Wireless Internet, Part II

Scarlett Lion posted earlier about wireless internet in Kampala. Here are my additions to her list:
  • Just Kickin' in Kisementi (free for two hours)

  • Mateo's on Parliament Avenue (rumored to exist; rumored to be free)

  • Crocodile in Kisementi (5000 shillings buys a card that sometimes gets you an hour, sometimes unlimited)

  • Rouge, across from Nando's on Kampala Road (coming soon)

  • Iguana in Kisementi/Kamwokya (coming soon)

If I were you, I'd build an wireless antenna out of a tin can, called a cantenna.

I thought about building one in Gulu but there is no wireless here to steal.

These cost virtually nothing to make and can extend the range of a wireless network appreciably.

Hi!
Here's a list of the UTL hotspots http://www.utl.co.ug/utl.php?i=17. I've tried Face 2 and Nommo Gallery a couple of times without any luck, but Blue Mango (is it closed now?) and Boldwin's Cafe in Crested Towers are usually working. At Boldwin's you can even sit outside the cafe and use the internet even though the cafe is not open.
