Headquarters Movin' ...

What you are reading is my first post to The Kampalan. It is the first of a number. I am the acting organiser for the Uganda Bloggers' Happy Hour. And because I am letting my own blog hibernate (on top of it not being the best venue for what I'll be doing here), I am going to be putting any/all communiqués concerning the UBHH over here.
So ... dress up for the 27th of September, 2007, for on that fateful day, yet another Happy Hour shall touch the ground at Mateo's Bar. The usual time (starting 6:30pm, to when the last blogger leaves).

Okay, now ... some links into the Diverse Community that we are. Pernille left for Tanzania. The blog is no longer called I Left Copenhagen for Uganda, but the more-cryptic Louder than Swahili. If it hasn't changed yet ...
And, there is a Ugandan blogger who steals girl's lingerie. That is me. There is another who is a liar (especially about what he steals). That's me, again. And another, who is lazy at work. That's me again. There is a girl blogger who speaks too fast. There is another blogger who happens to have flown to Babylon of late. Another is located in India. Another is gay. Another has never really been in Uganda for a looong time. They are all different. One blog is hard to read, due to the theme. In the end, the blogs and their bloggers make a very diverse community. Different people, different blogs, same community. The point of this paragraph was to introduce that said gay blogger. He blogs here. He is, probably out of obvious necessity, anonymous. Still, you may want to check it out. Or maybe not. You get to choose.

Being Back Home

Being Back ... Is like seeing the arms of an old Lover;
Seeing your space and comfort zone still there;
Knowing the warmest and darkest corners to run and hide;
The brightest and best things being and coming free;
Understanding the norms; feeling the forms;
Being and seeing and happily living.

But this Old Lover still has the same faults;
The things we fight about all the time;
And She says I have changed - just because I met new Towns;
Towns that are in lands far, far away - too far for Her.

And my heart breaks for my Old Lover, Friend, Foe and Lover;
For soon, after Being Back, I have to Love Her and Leave Her.
